Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1489-M miniature circuit breaker, 3-pole, 25 A, D trip curve – overload and short-circuit protection for motors, transformers and high-inrush loads.

1489-M3D250 is an Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1489-M thermal-magnetic breaker: 3-pole, 25 A, certified to UL 489 (branch circuit protection) and IEC – suited to machine panels exported to North America.

The D curve tolerates high inrush (magnetic trip at about 10 – 20 × In), ideal for direct-on-line motors, transformers and inductive loads without nuisance tripping. The 1489-M range has dual terminals for wire or busbar connection and good shock and vibration resistance.

Choosing the trip curve

  • B: resistive loads, long cables (3 – 5 In).
  • C: general loads, lighting, small motors (5 – 10 In).
  • D: motors, transformers, high-inrush loads (10 – 20 In) – like 1489-M3D250.
  • Coordinate upstream/downstream breakers so the faulty circuit trips first (selectivity).

Installation

  • Clip onto 35 mm DIN rail and torque terminals correctly.
  • Size conductors for 25 A and panel temperature.
  • Inspect terminals periodically for signs of heating.
