Autonics BUP-30-P U-shaped photoelectric sensor (30 mm slot, PNP)

BUP-30-P is an Autonics U-shaped photoelectric sensor: emitter and receiver sit on opposite arms of a 30 mm slot. Any object interrupting the beam switches the output – no alignment needed as with separate through-beam sensors.

PNP open-collector output with 1 ms response counts fast-moving objects; Light ON or Dark ON is selected with the control wire. Uses: edge detection, product counting, cam positioning, lift door sensing, packaging machines. The -P version has PNP output for sinking PLC inputs.

Wiring

• Brown: +12 – 24 VDC; blue: 0 V; black: output; control wire selects Light ON/Dark ON (see cable label).
• PNP output: connect to sinking PLC inputs (0 V common).
• Keep sensor cables away from power cables to avoid noise.

• Smallest detectable object? About 4 mm opaque per distributor data; the BUP-30S has a sensitivity adjuster for smaller targets.
• NPN or PNP? BUP-30 is NPN, BUP-30-P is PNP.
