VFS15-2110PM-W1 is a Toshiba VF-S15 inverter – compact multi-purpose inverter, Toshiba's most popular range. It controls 3-phase induction motors up to 11 kW from a 3-phase 200 – 240 V supply, with no built-in EMC filter (PM suffix).

V/f and sensorless vector control for high starting torque at low speed. Drives high-efficiency permanent-magnet (PM) motors as a standard feature, according to Toshiba. Overload 150% for 60 s and 200% for 0.5 s; output frequency up to 500 Hz.

Reading the code: VF-S15 is the range; the digit after the dash is the voltage class (2 = 200 V, 4 = 400 V); the next three digits give the rating (11 kW); PL includes an EMC filter, PM does not. Size the drive by the rated current on the 220 V motor nameplate; for heavy starting (loaded conveyors, crushers, compressors) choose one size larger.

Sizing and accessories

• A 11 kW drive suits 220 V motors up to 11 kW on standard loads; compare the drive rated current with the motor nameplate.
• For heavy starting, frequent reversing or panel temperatures above 40 °C, choose one size larger.
• For fast stops of high-inertia loads (large fans, centrifuges, cranes), fit a braking resistor of the recommended value.
• For long motor cables or several motors on one drive, ask TOVINA about output reactors and settings.
• Protect the input with a correctly rated breaker or fuses; do not switch an output contactor to start/stop the motor.

Installation and wiring

• Connect the supply to R/L1, S/L2, T/L3 and the motor to U/T1, V/T2, W/T3 – never apply mains to U, V, W.
• Earth the drive and motor; route signal cables away from power cables to reduce noise.
• Mount vertically with clearance above and below for cooling; sealed panels need a fan.
• After power-off, wait until the capacitors discharge (charge lamp off) before touching terminals.

Basic setup

• CMOd – run command source (panel keys or F/R terminals).
• FMOd – frequency reference source (dial, external potentiometer, 0 – 10 V / 4 – 20 mA, RS485).
• ACC / dEC – acceleration and deceleration times; UL / LL – upper and lower frequency limits.
• vL – base frequency per motor nameplate (50 Hz); tHr group – motor overload protection level from the rated current.

Routine maintenance

• Clean dust from the heat sink and cooling fan; replace noisy or weak fans.
• Re-tighten power terminals after a period of operation; look for signs of overheating.
• Review the trip history to catch overcurrent, overvoltage and overheating early.
• Power up spare drives periodically to keep the capacitors in condition.
