MAX LM-3000PRO ML high-speed desktop tube & wire marker printer

LM-3000PRO ML is MAX’s newest desktop wire marker printer in the LETATWIN range, built for control panel shops that number hundreds or thousands of wires a day. It prints at 80 mm/s – about twice as fast as earlier models according to MAX – with a 300 dpi head that keeps small characters sharp.

One machine covers most marking jobs in a panel: GRIPSLEEVE square tubes, PVC tubes, heat shrink tubes (white ink on black tube), device tape, ID plates, marker strips and WAGO terminal block markers. Printed markers are half cut and stay joined in a strip in print order, so wiring staff simply snap off the next one.

The printer is run from a 4.3-inch colour touch screen and the LETATWIN PC EDITOR PRO software, which also drives the handheld LM-550A3. Data can be prepared in Excel and pasted in, then sent over Wi-Fi, LAN, USB cable or a USB flash drive. One printer for wires, devices and terminal blocks

A control panel usually needs three kinds of marking: wire numbers, device labels and terminal block markers. The LM-3000PRO handles all three on one machine – just change the consumable and platen roller.

• Wires: round PVC tube, square GRIPSLEEVE, white or black heat shrink tube, ID plates in clear sleeves.
• Devices: white or yellow polyester tape, 5 / 9 / 12 mm wide, for push buttons, breakers and contactors.
• Terminal blocks: marker strips and reel-type block markers for WAGO terminals, printed in sequence on one strip.

GRIPSLEEVE square tube – what’s new

• Grips the wire: ribs inside the sleeve hold the wire at three points, so it can slide along the wire when needed but stays put once placed – no spinning, no slipping.
• Easy to read: the flat face keeps text straight instead of curving round the tube, and allows larger characters for the same wire size.
• Fast to fit: markers stay joined by the half cut and slide over crimped ferrules before locking onto the wire.
• White and yellow: use colour to separate circuit groups. GRIPSLEEVE is UL224 certified.
• Sizes: LM-SL34 for wire OD 2.1 – 3.4 mm, LM-SL37 for 3.0 – 3.7 mm; 75 m per roll.

Consumables in detail

Real samples printed on the LM-3000PRO. Heat shrink tube and block markers from other brands may not print well with MAX ribbon – test before ordering in volume.

a. Refillable ink ribbon

Black ribbon LM-IR3015B (200 m) prints on both PVC and heat shrink tube; white ribbon LM-IR3015W (180 m) is for black or dark heat shrink tube. Only the ribbon core is replaced – the LM-RC3015 cassette is reused.

b. PVC tube and heat shrink tube

PVC tube for φ1.5 – 10 mm, heat shrink tube φ2.0 – 19 mm. Black tube is printed in white, white tube in black.

c. Block markers for WAGO terminals

Reel-type block markers for WAGO 2009-113/114/115/145, 2009-515 (Phoenix size) and 2009-615 (Weidmüller size). Each needs its own platen roller LM-PR115 / PR145 / PR515 / PR615.

d. Marker strip

5.5 – 12 mm marker strips, cut to length and clipped onto terminal blocks. Table mode in the software prints group titles such as “24V DC” over M1 – M5.

e. Polyester tape

White and yellow tape, 5 / 9 / 12 mm wide, 30 m rolls (the LM-550A3 uses 16 m / 8 m). A reel stand sits beside the printer.

f. ID plate (plastic tag)

LM-ID PLATE4110, 4.1 mm wide, 20 m roll. Printed tags slide into a clear sleeve on the wire and can be changed without cutting the sleeve.

Speed and output

• 80 mm/s: twice the speed of the handheld LM-550A3 (40 mm/s).
• About 85 tube blocks per minute (20 mm pitch with half cut) versus about 52 on the LM-550A3 – about 63% more output according to MAX.
• Cold workshops: built-in tube heater and a 50 mm/s low-temperature mode keep print quality.
• 6 mm characters: clearer large text than the LM-550 series.

Features for panel shops

• Adjustable half cut separates markers without splitting the strip; manual full-cut button at the end of a job.
• Source/target marking: print both connection points on one marker (e.g. TB01-01/TB02-01), with an optional reversed second side so a marker fitted the other way round still reads correctly.
• Refillable ribbon: black 200 m, white 180 m; only the ribbon core is replaced and the cassette is reused.
• User-replaceable parts: half cutter, platen roller and thermal head.
• Convenience: remaining-time display, jam-clearing door, print and cut position adjustment, reel stand for tape and ID plate, QR code to instruction videos on the screen.

User-replaceable half cutter, platen roller and thermal head

The three wear parts – half cutter (LM-HC3000), platen roller and thermal head – can all be replaced by the user, so there is no need to send the printer away for repair.

Colour touch screen and multiple interfaces

• 4.3-inch screen: colour icons, slider adjustment of print and cut position, remaining print time.
• QR code on screen: scan with a phone to open maintenance videos at the machine.
• Interfaces: Wi-Fi, LAN, USB cable (Type A-B) and USB flash memory; several PCs can share one printer.
• Power-down data save: after a power cut the printer asks whether to resume or cancel.

• Steps: choose the printer, choose the consumable, set print options, enter data (type or paste from Excel), preview, print.
• Format options: zero slash, frame / underline, vertical / horizontal text, invert, 180° rotation, character spacing, mm / inch.
• Individual preview of each block; table mode for marker strips; click “?” for an explanation of each setting.
• Four fonts (standard, bold, clear, square), up to three sequence counters in one block, automatic character sizing.

Routine maintenance

• MAX recommends maintenance at least once a month.
• Printed pitch shorter than set or text shifted left: clean the platen roller with a well-wrung damp cloth or alcohol cloth.
• Thin white lines in the text: clean the thermal head sideways with an alcohol swab; replace the head if it persists.
• Printer keeps printing with no material: clean the material sensor; blank cells on block markers: clean the block marker sensor.

LM-3000PRO or LM-550A3?

• LM-550A3 is a light handheld printer (about 2.3 kg) with keyboard and internal memory, suited to site work and maintenance; battery version LM-550A3B.
• LM-3000PRO is a high-speed desktop printer (about 11 kg) that also prints GRIPSLEEVE, heat shrink tube up to φ19 mm, PVC tube up to φ10 mm, marker strips and WAGO block markers – for panel builders with high volume.
• Longer consumables: 200 m black ribbon (LM-550A3: 110 m) and 30 m tape (LM-550A3: 16 m white / 8 m yellow).
• Both use PC EDITOR PRO, so a shop can run the LM-3000PRO in the factory and the LM-550A3 on site.
