MAX LETATWIN LM-550E wire marker printer – tubes, heat-shrink, tape

LM-550E is MAX's (Japan) basic wire marking printer: it prints numbers and text directly on PVC tube and heat-shrink tube φ2.5 – 6.5 mm and on 5 / 9 / 12 mm tape, half-cutting them into strips of markers. Simple keyboard operation with a ten-key pad and large backlit LCD.

It prints at 27.5 mm/s (about 37 markers/min), stores 50 files, repeats up to 300 times per block and shares ribbons, cassettes and tapes with the LM-550 range. Ideal for small and medium panel shops and maintenance teams needing a durable, easy printer without PC connection.

Speed and output

The LM-550E prints at 27.5 mm/s – about 37 half-cut 20 mm markers per minute, faster than the LM-380EZ (25 mm/s). A large backlit LCD and ten-key pad speed up data entry.

Memory and data entry

Stores up to 61,250 characters (50 files of 1,225 characters) and 30 frequently used words. According to the MAX manual the LM-550E is a standalone printer: data is entered on its keyboard and there is no PC port. To print from Excel lists or USB, choose the LM-550A3.

Adjustable half-cut depth

The cut-depth lever makes tubes and tape half-cut (not separated), so markers stay joined in sequence for easy installation. Replacement half cutter: LM-HC340.

Pitch up to 60 mm

Block length 10 – 60 mm on tube and 4 – 60 mm on tape, with up to 300 repeats per block.

Improvements over the LM-380EZ

• 110 m ribbon (LM-380EZ: 50 m) and 16 m white tape (previously 8 m) – fewer consumable changes.
• Up to 300 repeats per block (previously 100).
• 27.5 mm/s, about 37 markers/min (LM-380EZ: 25 mm/s, 35 markers/min).
• SUPER AUTO SIZE mode for shorter text than standard AUTO SIZE.
• Numbering by start–end range, octal/decimal/hex, A – Z, all/odd/even; ten-key pad; print preview.
• Tube head feed: on leaves about 5.7 cm of lead tube, off only about 1.7 cm, saving tube.

• MAX tubes: LM-TU332N2, LM-TU336N2, LM-TU342N2, LM-TU352N2 and φ6.4 mm.
• TOVINA tubes (MAX licensed) within the selectable sizes: LM-TU325N, LM-TU332N, LM-TU336N, LM-TU342N, LM-TU352N, LM-TU360N, LM-TU364N.
• Generic and heat-shrink tubes: φ2.5 / 3.2 / 3.6 / 4.2 / 5.2 / 5.5 / 6.0 / 6.5 mm.
• Tapes: LM-TP505W, LM-TP505Y, LM-TP505T, LM-TP509W, LM-TP509Y, LM-TP509T, LM-TP512W, LM-TP512Y.

Ink ribbons

• LM-IR50B, LM-IR50B-AS, LM-IR50BP, LM-IR50W – fitted in the LM-RC500 cassette (MAX specifies LM-RC500 for the LM-550E).
• 110 m ribbon (LM-380/390 only 50 m); replace only the refill.
• LM-IR50 ribbons do not fit the older LM-RC300 cassette.

FAQ

• Does the LM-550E connect to a PC? No; data is entered on the keyboard. Choose the LM-550A3 for PC/USB input.
• Can it print heat-shrink tube? Yes, φ2.5 – 6.5 mm, with LM-IR50BP ribbon.
• Does it print ID plates? The LM-550E manual lists tubes and tapes only; choose the LM-550A3 for ID plates.
• Does the LM-550E print accented Vietnamese? No. According to the manual, its DIACR function only covers European-language accents. For Vietnamese circuit names with diacritics, choose the LM-550A3 or LM-550A3B.
• What comes in the LM-550E box? Per the MAX manual: printer, AC adapter, instruction manual (CD-ROM) and a supplementary manual. Ribbon, LM-RC500 cassette, tubes and tapes are chosen to suit your work; TOVINA recommends a starter set when you order.
• Print is faint — what do I adjust? Raise the print density (default level 4) or turn on low-temperature mode in a cold room; if text sits off-centre on the tube, adjust the cutting position between −2.0 and +2.0 mm.
