LM-IR300BP wire marker ink ribbon – black, 12 mm × 50 m (MAX LM-390/380)

LM-IR300BP is a black thermal-transfer ribbon refill, 12 mm × 50 m, for MAX LM-390A, LM-380A, LM-380E wire marking printers. It fits into the LM-RC310 ribbon cassette; when it runs out only the refill is replaced and the cassette is reused.

The LM-IR300BP is the heat-shrink black ribbon for the LM-390A, LM-380A and LM-380E (50 m ribbon, LM-RC310 cassette). These printers still mark heat-shrink tube well with the correct BP ribbon.

The BP formulation adheres well to heat-shrink (polyolefin) tube so text stays intact when the tube shrinks. For standard PVC tube use the regular B type.

Match the printer generation: LM-IR50 ribbons are for LM-550 printers (LM-RC500 cassette) and LM-IR300 ribbons for LM-390/380 – they are not interchangeable. MAX notes that LM-IR50 ribbons cannot be set in the older LM-RC300 cassette. The LM-3000PRO uses its own LM-IR3015B/W ribbons.

LM-IR300BP in practice

• Print first, shrink later: print, slide the tube onto the wire, then heat evenly around it.
• Keep one LM-RC310 cassette for BP ribbon and another for the standard LM-IR300B to switch quickly.
• A 50 m ribbon covers roughly half a 100 m roll of tube; plan the number of ribbons from the amount of heat-shrink tube to print.
• LM-550 printers use the matching LM-IR50BP (110 m).

Fitting the refill into the cassette

• Hold the take-up core and gently pull the ribbon core to separate the ribbon.
• Press button B to fit the ribbon core and button A to fit the take-up core (lettered side up).
• Turn the take-up core until the ribbon shows ink colour and is taut.
• Load the cassette and close the cover until it clicks.

Tips

• Text faint across the whole line is usually a dirty head: clean it with an alcohol swab before changing ribbon.
• Text broken on one side: check ribbon slack, cover closure and the selected tube size.
• Store ribbons cool, dry and out of sunlight; keep a few months of stock so it stays fresh.
